BRIAN'S TAKE

With only two days of tech and doing original choreography, the focus was on the spacing of dance numbers so we didn't get much practice at calling cues in real-time before there was an audience. This is where paying close attention in choreo rehearsals and taking notes using the lingo of the choreographer saved us. Being able to tell actors "we're going to pick up right on the Shark Charge" saved us time during tech while working on dance sequences without lyrics. The designers even started to learn where these specific points were and could give calling notes with them as anchors. I also used these anchors for giving notes during the run. Instead of saying "You're a little too far SR during the group moment in Dance at the Gym", I could say "Make sure you don't travel too far SR during the Jet Charge."
